United’s cargo drops 6.5% in March
United Airlines reported a 6.5 percent decline in cargo volume for March, at 175.3 million system cargo ton-miles, compared to 187.4 million system cargo ton-miles in the same month last year.
The monthly result saw a 47.4 percent drop in mail shipments to 17.1 million cargo ton-miles while freight improved 2.2 percent to 158.1 million cargo ton-miles.
After the first three months of 2007, United’s system cargo ton-miles are down 7.7 percent to 468.7 million, compared to 508 million after the same period in 2006.
