UPS adds to global expedited service

   UPS has tripled the coverage area of its worldwide expedited service, adding two-to-five-day delivery to more than 220 countries and territories.
   With the expansion, the company is targeting businesses dealing in retail and consumer goods, high-tech freight, and industrial manufacturing equipment.
   The expansion also encourages shippers to look beyond their borders for trade opportunities, according to UPS’ John Sutthoff.
   “UPS Worldwide Expedited offers our customers a more economical, less time-sensitive service that has many of the same benefits they get from our Worldwide Express service,” he said in a statement. “Companies that expand beyond their domestic borders are better insulated from economic downturns at home.”
   Also, driving this trend is the rise of global trade via e-commerce.
   “UPS’ Worldwide Expedited expansion enables this access and will help companies of any size — importers and exporters alike — participate in this dynamic growth,” Sutthoff said. – Jon Ross
