Eric W. Kirchner will become president of freight forwarding. He will direct transportation and commercial air and ocean carrier relationships as well as trade lane development and international freight sales to mid-sized businesses. His scope also includes network management of truckload and less-than-truckload contract services to complement UPS transportation capacity.
Kirchner, a 27-year transportation industry veteran, joined UPS Supply Chain Solutions in 2004 when UPS acquired Menlo Worldwide Forwarding Inc., where he served as chief operating officer. At UPS he has directed North American freight forwarding and the alignment of partner carriers with new heavy freight regional air hubs and international gateways.
Everette C. Riley has been named president, North American Freight Forwarding and Transportation District. A 25-year UPS veteran, he will direct corresponding pickup, delivery and service centers for air and ocean operations in the United States and border transportation between the U.S., Canada and Mexico. He also oversees customer network and transportation management, including UPS Express Critical services for urgent and same-day package and heavy freight shipments.
In addition, he will be responsible for UPS Logistics Technologies, the unit that markets a suite of software systems for small to mid-sized delivery fleets, and UPS Autogistics, which coordinates automobile transportation from factories to destination dealers.
Terry Gavin Sambrook will become vice president of global brokerage.
Sambrook worked on the alignment of UPS forwarding operations in Asia Pacific, Europe, Middle East and Africa, and has also directed supply chain transportation operations for the eastern third of the U.S. She has more than 27 years of supply chain and freight forwarding experience and joined UPS in 2001 when the Fritz Cos. were acquired.
