UPS expands jewelry protection program to 3 cities

   UPS is expanding an insurance program for high-value goods to three more cities.
   The express delivery company said its Jeweler’s Elite Program is now available in San Francisco, Philadelphia and Providence, R.I. The program was launched in 2012 in New York and Los Angeles.
   UPS Capital, the company’s financial services and risk management unit, offers special insurance that covers the value of expensive goods beyond limited delivery insurance for loss or damage in transit. The program is available across all UPS service levels, including ground shipments.
   UPS Capital covers goods up to the retail sales value, or a maximum of $150,000. The program aims to provide customer convenience by bundling insurance with shipping instead of using an outside insurance provider, which can streamline invoicing and claims processes. The large amount of protection means shippers don’t have to separate most shipments into smaller value amounts.
   San Francisco and Philadelphia are top jewelry markets, and Providence is a major jewelry manufacturing center.
   UPS Capital offers additional protection through UPS Proactive Response Secure, which combines proactive monitoring of packages and, when necessary, intervention and remediation, plus insurance.
