UPS introduces package intercept service
Calling it the “ultimate do-over,” parcel delivery giant UPS this week introduced a new service that allows customers to reroute a package in transit to a new destination address.
UPS Delivery Intercept is designed to provide maximum flexibility to customers to redirect a shipment before it is delivered. Customers can have packages returned to sender, sent to a new address, held for delivery on a future data, or held for consignee pick up.
The service is available in the United States and Puerto Rico.
The Web-based service, the first of its kind in the industry, can be accessed through a number of package shipping applications. Customers click on the tracking number of their shipment to make delivery changes.
Atlanta-based UPS is leveraging the capabilities of its Package Flow Technology to provide the new service.
