UPS kicks off non-stop U.S.-Guangzhou flights    UPS has started a service between the United States and Baiyun, the new airport of the city of Guangzhou in southern China, becoming the first express and cargo carrier to offer non-stop flights on the U.S./Guangzhou route.
   The express carrier is making use of new traffic rights awarded to UPS last November by the U.S. Department of Transportation under last year’s U.S.-China bilateral air service agreement.
   UPS is flying six days a week between the United States and Guangzhou. The Chinese city lies in the Pearl River delta region, near Hong Kong, which accounts for 30-to-40 percent of China’s foreign trade.
   The additional frequencies have allowed UPS to triple its weekly flights to China this year to 18, comprising 12 frequencies to Shanghai and six to Guangzhou. On April 1, UPS was also granted authority by the DOT to add an additional three flights to China in 2006.
