UPS LOGISTICS GROUP TO ACQUIRE LIVINGSTON

UPS LOGISTICS GROUP TO ACQUIRE LIVINGSTON    UPS Logistics Group, a subsidiary of United Parcel Service, said Wednesday that it will acquire Livingston Inc. and Livingston Healthcare services Inc. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Livingston operates 22 distribution centers across Canada and specializes in supply-chain management in the high-tech, consumer products and health care sectors. Livingston Healthcare Services has six U.S. distribution centers and specializes in logistics for health care, biotechnology and medical device customers.
This marks UPS Logistics Group's fifth acquisition this year.
“In Canada, Livingston will give us a coast-to-coast network of distribution facilities, skilled management, advanced technologies and a powerful portfolio of clients,” said Dan DiMaggio, chief executive officer of UPS Logistics Group. “Livingston Healthcare is particularly skilled in the U.S. pharmaceutical and biotechnology marketplace, an important growth sector for us.”
A company spokesperson said UPS Logistics Group's service parts logistics expertise will play a role in the handling of repair and return of critical medical devices.
In a separate transaction, Livingston will sell four of its Canadian distribution facilities and operations (St. Laurent, Vaughan, Calgary and Delta) to Seattle-based Lynden International Logistics Co.
Completion of the transaction is subject to regulatory approvals and other terms. The sale is expected to close in October.
