UPS LOGISTICS TO PURCHASE BURNHAM’s PARTS NETWORK

UPS LOGISTICS TO PURCHASE BURNHAMÆS PARTS NETWORK    UPS Logistics Group Inc. said Thursday it intends to purchase Atlanta-based Burnham's national service parts operating network.
   The acquisition, which would be done through subsidiary SonicAir, would create an extensive critical parts delivery network capable of delivering to 88 percent of the U.S. within two hours.
   UPS Logistics Group's parts network includes field support parts banks and central distribution space in more than 420 locations around the world. SonicAir operates the service parts logistics network, which includes high-tech repair operations.
   Burnham is selling its post-sales service parts operating network to focus on its core business: supply chain services for ATM, computer/electronics, copier/offices machines, ESS, health care and hospitality.
   This is UPS Logistics Group's second service parts acquisition this year. It acquired Finon Sofecom, a French service parts provider, earlier this year.
