UPS said Thursday that it has streamlined its ground package network to speed up e-commerce deliveries from U.S. retailers to eastern Canada by a day.
The Atlanta-based package delivery giant has begun funneling more shipments from 114 cities such as Albuquerque, N.M.; Dallas; Houston; Minneapolis; Phoenix; Salt Lake City; San Francisco; and Seattle to its hub in Chicago for consolidation.
Canadian e-commerce grew 17 percent last year and American merchandise is popular with shoppers north of the border.
UPS long-haul trucks move the goods into Canada, where they are distributed by the company’s package delivery operation.
