UPS to head Asia Pacific logistics for Alcatel-Lucent division
UPS will operate a 45,000-square-foot logistics hub in Hong Kong for Alcatel-Lucent, the technology company said Monday.
As the lead logistics provider in the Asia Pacific region, UPS will handle inbound receiving, storage services, inventory management, pick-and-pack operations, returns management and outbound transportation management, functions that Alcatel-Lucent said will help with quicker support for customers in the region.
Alcatel-Lucent first began using UPS as a logistics services consultant in 1999, leading to contract logistics work in France and Hong Kong.
“The activation of the new Hong Kong logistics center, which is fully dedicated to Alcatel-Lucent (Enterprise Solution Division), slashes delivery response time by days and reduces direct operating expenses for Alcatel-Lucent,” the company said. “In the past, products were shipped from Europe and United States to their customers in Asia.”
