Uruguay trade talks progressing The U.S. and Uruguay have completed the first round of trade talks intended to result in a trade agreement between the countries.
   The Associated Press reported that Everett Eissenstat, the assistant U.S. trade representative for the Americas, said he hoped a planned trade agreement could be concluded in the shortest time possible.
   The report also noted that as the trade talks have progressed, the issue has sparked feuding within the administration of the leftist coalition government headed by President Tabare Vazquez.
   In addition, protesters demonstrated and burned an American flag outside the president's official residence during a press conference announcing the end of the first round of trade talks. The report added the demonstrators dispersed peacefully after staging the protest.
