USDA appoints Parham to APHIS deputy administrator

The U.S. Department of Agriculture said Gregory Parham has been appointed deputy administrator of the marketing and regulatory programs’ business services unit within the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service.

   In this role, Parham is responsible for human resources management and procurement and contracting to support APHIS, the Agricultural Marketing Service, and the Grain Inspection and Packers and Stockyards Administration. In addition, he will provide a variety of support services related to information technology management and investigative services at APHIS.

   Parham started his career in the federal government in 1980 as an epidemic intelligence service officer with the Centers for Disease Control. He joined USDA in 1982, working with the Food Safety and Inspection Service, the Extension Service, and the Cooperative State Research, Education and Extension Service. Prior to his newest appointment, Parham was APHIS’s chief information officer.
