USDA chief explores biofuels at conference in Brazil
U.S. Agriculture Secretary Ed Schafer will lead a delegation of senior federal agricultural officials at the International Conference on Biofuels in Sao Paulo, Brazil, Nov. 20-21, to explore the newest opportunities for biofuel production.
'We are excited for the rapidly developing second-generation biofuels which will allow production of energy based on a wide variety of locally available materials,' Schafer said in a statement. 'This will allow more flexibility for farmers to get involved and reduce the dependency on one or two feedstock sources.'
The conference will include government, industry and academic attendees from more than 75 countries.
