USDA to hold second user fee meeting

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service will hold a second public meeting Oct. 27 to discuss the agricultural quarantine and inspection user fee increases scheduled to take effect on Nov. 1.

At the meeting, which will be held at the USDA Center at Riverdale, Md., from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., the agency will address questions and seek feedback on the user fee increases. The agency will also continue to accept comments through Nov. 27.

The agency held its first public meeting about its user fee increases on Oct. 15.

In a Sept. 28 Federal Register notice, APHIS said it will increase its fees charged by 10 percent for certain quarantine and inspection services involving commercial trucks, railcars, vessels and planes, initially effective Oct. 1. The agency extended the effective date to Nov. 1.
