UTi to use Blue Tree fleet management tool

   The logistics services provider UTi has enlisted Blue Tree Systems, a provider of trailer tracking, refrigeration monitoring and in-cab fleet management solutions, to provide a fleet management system for its distribution group.
   Blue Tree’s R:COM Fleet Management system is designed to tackle fuel and performance monitoring, hours of service management, in-cab communication and vehicle tracking.
   “We realized immediate fuel savings by utilizing R:COM’s data and reporting capabilities to optimize fuel purchasing and to coach drivers about idle and driving habits, including shift points and optimal RPM ranges,” said Joe Blanke, a dispatch manager at UTi’s distribution group, in a statement. “On the first 25 trucks with the Blue Tree solution, fuel economy improved by a half MPG.” – Eric Johnson
