Activity slowed last week with Christmas falling on Wednesday, but spot rates across all equipment types continued to climb, including van rates, which increased by 1 cent. DAT stated that challenging weather and unusual strength in load activity since the middle of November have pushed the average rate up to $1.95 per mile, its peak level for all of 2013.
From November 2012 to November 2013, van rates increased 2.7 percent, flatbed rates decreased 5.5 percent, and reefer rates fell 0.5 percent, as reported by DAT.
