Vancouver Deltaport terminal berth opens    Port Metro Vancouver said Monday Deltaport container terminal's third berth has opened for business.
   The new berth expands capacity at Deltaport by half, from 1.2 million TEUs annually to 1.8 million TEUs. Deltaport is the largest container terminal in Canada and handles roughly 45 percent of western Canada's container volume, including more than half of Port Metro Vancouver's total volume.
   Construction on the $400 million terminal began in January 2007 and was completed in December.
   The terminal is managed by Global Container Terminals, a subsidiary of the Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan, which bought two terminals in Vancouver and two terminals in New York-New Jersey from OOCL parent Orient Overseas (International) Ltd. in 2006.
