Vanguard expands in Spain

   Non-vessel-operating common carrier Vanguard Logistics Services has opened a new operations and commercial office in Valencia, Spain.
   Vanguard has offices in Madrid, Barcelona and an exclusive agent, Euroship, in Bilbao. There is a third-party warehouse in Manises with 5,000 square meters of space.
   “Valencia is the second most important port for LCL cargo and the largest port for full container load business in Spain,,” said Salvador Camaraza, Vanguard’s director of sales for the United Kingdom, Europe and the Mediterranean region. “Over 250 freight forwarders have offices in the Valencia area that handle the cargo locally.”
   Along with the office opening, Gabriel Ortega has been named country manager for Spain. Ortega began working in the logistics industry in 1988 for a freight forwarder. He worked for a Vanguard agent for 10 years and in 1996 joined the Vanguard Barcelona office as sales manager.
