Vans save Sheetz restaurants on gas

   Sheetz, a restaurant chain in Alatoona, Pa., said it’s saving more than 148,000 gallons of diesel fuel each year compared to conventional delivery methods due to its use of 52 Thermo King Sprinter vans.
   The temperature-controlled vans were added to Sheetz’s supply chain in 2012 to transport baked goods from its bakery to its 450 restaurants. The refrigeration units in the vehicles allow for multi-temperature transport. 
   “Delivering fresh products to every single Sheetz location every single day is a critical piece of our operations,” the company’s Stan Sheetz said in a statement. “We have to make sure to meet our quality standards with each delivery. We’re pleased that Thermo King has provided us with a temperature-precision solution to meet these standards while also saving money and minimally impacting the environment.” – Jon Ross
