Veritainer receives QATT approval for OPP II from DHS
Northern California based Veritainer Corp. was awarded Qualified Anti-Terrorist Technology (QATT) status by the Department of Homeland Security today.
The status allows for the company's Oakland pilot project to be developmentally tested and evaluated by DHS. The device uses container crane radiation detection technology to scan imported containers for radiation.
Veritainer just recently raised $4.55 million, completing its second round of investment. The company's Phase II is now fully funded.
Spokesman Seth Jacobson said the project will be finished by the end of March and will be demonstrated to government agencies, ports and members of the industry. The Port of Oakland will retain the OPP II, and the project has garnered interest from other ports.
