Vietnam imports from China through April total nearly $6 billion

Vietnam imported $5.8 billion worth of Chinese goods through the first four months of 2008, according to China’s trade ministry.

   No information was given as to how that amount compared to the similar period in 2007, though two-way trade between Vietnam and China rose to $15.9 billion in 2007 from $10.4 billion in 2006, according to Vietnamese trade statistics.

   The most prominent Chinese exports to its neighbor were steel, machines, fertilizers, cloth and petroleum products, a report from Xinhua News Agency said.
