Vietnam terminal operator orders more RTGs from Kalmar Sweden’s Kalmar Industries, providers of heavy-duty handling equipment for ports, has received an order for 10 of its all-electric E-One rubber-tire gantry cranes for a new container terminal project in Vietnam.
   Saigon Newport Co. (SNP) will use the six-by-one wide and one-over-five high units at the Tan Cang-Cai Mep International Container Terminal, currently under construction on the Thi Vai River as part of a greenfield port development just outside of Ho Chi Minh City

Saigon Newport Co. has ordered a further 10 E-One RTGs from Kalmar for delivery to its Tan Cang-Cai Mep International Container Terminal by November 2008.

   In April, SNP ordered 10 of the same units for its growing Cat Lai container facility.
   Upon completion of its first phase, scheduled by the end of 2008, the Cai Mep terminal will be able to handle 650,000 TEUs per year. Under the second phase, due for completion in 2010, SNP will have expanded the complex to 1.1 million TEUs capacity.
   SNP is also preparing to next launch its Long Binh inland container depot next year with 80 hectares    of container yard space and a fleet of Kalmar reachstackers.
