Virginia rail chief named
Gov.-elect Bob McDonnell of Virginia this week named Thelma Drake as director of the Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation.
The agency is responsible for promoting commuter choices and helping develop freight and passenger rail in the state, including managing rail grants for public-private partnerships.
Drake has served on transportation committees in the U.S. House of Representatives and the Virginia House of Delegates.
