Volvo exec named to transportation tech group’s board

Volvo exec named to transportation tech groupÆs board Anne B'lec, president and chief executive officer of Irvine-based Volvo Cars of North America, has joined the board of directors of WestStart-CALSTART. She will serve as the first automotive industry representative on the transportation technology organization's board.
   Prior to joining Volvo, B'lec held several executive management positions with Ford Motor Co. She was nominated by Automotive News as one of the '100 Leading Women in the North American Automotive Industry' in 2005.
   Volvo Cars of North America and WestStart-CALSTART have worked together for many years to transfer knowledge about the highly successful Swedish biomethane program to industry and government leaders in California. VCNA's science officer has also served on the WestStart-CALSTART Technical Advisory Committee for the past decade.
   Pasadena-based WestStart-CALSTART is a non-profit organization founded in 1992 that works to be an industry catalyst spurring advanced transportation technologies, systems and the companies that make them.
