Wal-Mart faces rough going for Fresno super store Retail giant Wal-Mart's effort to build a 210,000 square foot supercenter in the Fresno area is meeting some super opposition from a member of the Fresno City Council.
   Councilmember Brian Calhoun, whose district is home to three of the retailer's stores, told the Fresno Bee that he would not support plans for the new supercenter and he would prefer other uses for the 24.5-acre site.
   The proposed supercenter, still in preliminary permitting stages, would include a nearly 35,000 square foot grocery section inside the store, an ATM, fast-food restaurant, eye-care section, hair salon, pharmacy, portrait studio and outdoor garden center.
   Calhoun told the Bee through an aide that the councilmember would support a recreational use consistent with the nearby golf course.
   'And no, the sports department in a big box store doesn't do it,' the aide told the paper.
