Walker SCM to use CargoWise for enterprise platform

   The transportation division of Walker SCM, LLC, a Valley Stream, N.Y.-based global transportation and logistics firm has selected CargoWise to provide its enterprise transportation management system.
   Walker will use a customized version of CargoWise’s ediEnterprise system.
   “For years, we relied on a system that, although enhanced by developers, was no longer able to support the demands of our customers, employees and vendors,” said Giorgio Laccona, chief operating officer for Walker International Transportation. “We needed to catch up to the ‘light-speed’ pace of the global logistics world. Several members of the Walker management team had positive experiences with CargoWise while with other organizations.”
   Laccona added that Walker’s finance team will have better access and visibility over every transaction in a more user-friendly environment.
   “ediEnterprise aligns with our IT strategy of moving to cloud-based applications,” said Clifton McDonald, Walker’s director of information technology. “Its web-centric architecture enables us to launch new offices and onboard agents with minimal IT infrastructure costs, simply by establishing internet connectivity at the site. The hosted environment also allows us to improve our disaster-recovery capabilities and to operate a leaner computing environment, while providing improved services to our operations and customers.”
