Wallenius Wilhelmsen opens Russian office    Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics said it has opened its own office Saint Petersburg as part of a “long term strategy to develop a strong logistics presence in the country.”
   WWL has been operating in Russia since 2003 and first called at the port of Saint Petersburg in January when it established a transshipment service for high and heavy roll-on/roll-off cargoes emanating from the Americas and Asia.
   The transshipment service runs weekly from Gothenburg to Saint Petersburg via Kotka in Finland and is typically carrying agricultural and construction equipment as well vehicles. The company also offers transshipment service to and from Saint Petersburg and other ports in the Baltic Sea via other short-sea carriers.
   Anders Boman, the company’s chief executive officer for Europe, said the company plans to add inland transportation using third-party providers by the end of the year and expects to add service to Black Sea ports and rail for cargo originating in Asia.
