Weber appoints former DHL exec as new VP of transportation

Santa Fe Springs, Calif.-based logistics firm Weber Distribution said Thursday it has appointed former DHL Express executive Mike Epeneter as Weber's new vice president of transportation.

Epeneter, a 23-year transportation industry veteran, was senior vice president of operations for the western United States at DHL. He was responsible for the oversight of 6,500 employees and independent contractors in the region, which includes 200 service centers, 20 airport facilities and more than 6,000 pick-up and delivery routes.

During his tenure with DHL, Epeneter also held the positions of senior vice president of operations for the U.S. Southeast; regional services director for the U.S. Northwest; and three stints as an area services manager, serving in Seattle, Wash., Los Angeles, and San Diego.

In his new role, Epeneter heads up Weber's Transportation Division, including oversight of the firm's transportation fleet in the western U.S. and the firm's North American freight management. In this role, he oversees more than 200 Weber employees who provide customers with a variety of transportation services. Epeneter also manages Weber's customer service team, eight service centers, and the firm's trailer fleet.

Prior to joining DHL, Epeneter worked in operations management positions for both Browning Ferris Industries and Emery Worldwide.
