WFS wins Continental contract in Heathrow
Worldwide Flight Services has strengthened its position as the largest cargo handling at London's Heathrow Airport by winning a contract from Continental Airlines and acquiring the lease on a further 60,000 tons capacity cargo terminal.
Continental transferred its business to WFS to join forces with merger partner United Airlines, a longstanding WFS customer in the United Kingdom.
To accommodate this growth, WFS has taken a lease on Building 551 in the World Cargocentre at Heathrow. This has increased its overall on- and off-airport capacity in London to 250,000 square feet.
Continental operates seven flights a day from Heathrow to Newark, N.J., and Houston using Boeing 777 and 757 planes with up to 65 tons of daily cargo capacity across all flights.
