Whistle-blower in Port of Baltimore may be fired    The Maryland Transportation Authority police officer who revealed to the Baltimore Sun this summer inadequate security measures and equipment at the Port of Baltimore may be fired this week for insubordination, the newspaper reported Wednesday.
   An internal investigation by the authority into who leaked the information for the Sun’s July 10 article pointed to George Tarburton Jr. He admitted to showing the newspaper’s reporter unguarded truck and rail gates, damaged fencing, broken alarms and non-operating surveillance cameras. Log books also showed that patrol boats rarely left the dock, the newspaper reported.
   Tarburton, who has been reassigned to the Transportation Authority’s truck weigh station in Perryville, Md., about 30 miles from the port, told the Sun that he was “just trying to point out these things that could have serious consequences to the public.”
   The port authority reportedly fixed some of the problems cited in the Sun’s article.
