WILLIAMS JOINS U.S. COMMISSION ON OCEAN POLICY

WILLIAMS JOINS U.S. COMMISSION ON OCEAN POLICY    Malcolm Williams has been appointed associate director for stewardship for the U.S. Commission on Ocean Policy, a president-appointed body assigned with compiling recommendations for the development of a comprehensive national ocean policy.
   Williams comes to the commission following a 30-year career with the U.S. Coast Guard, serving most recently as head of the Office of Maritime and International Law in Washington, the Coast Guard headquarters' largest legal policy division. His experience includes marine environmental and natural resource protection, pollution prevention and response, marine safety, port security and enforcement of federal maritime laws and regulations.
   The commission is conducting a nine-region fact-finding mission, which will include visits and public hearings in the Northeast, Alaska and Great Lakes regions over the next three months. In 2003, the commission will compile a report based on the fact-finding mission and analysis of U.S. coastal policies.
