Woodward promoted to oversee South Florida security

Woodward promoted to oversee South Florida security Harold E. Woodward, who earlier this year was brought to Miami to oversee Customs and Border Protection at the three Miami airports, was named Wednesday as director, field operations, Miami, with responsibility for all ports of entry in the South Florida area.
CBP said in his new position Woodward is charged with oversight of 14 international ports of entry and more than 2,000 CBP employees from Fort Pierce to Key West. The CBP region processes some 10 million people a year, as well as 13,000 ships, 119,000 aircraft and $33 billion in international trade last year.
CBP said antiterror efforts will be Woodward's primary responsibility, but he will also be in charge of enforcement efforts related to illegal drugs, fraudulent documents, illegal migrants, agricultural pests, dangerous disease and unsafe products.
As director CBP's Miami Service Port, Woodward had responsibility for all CBP operations at Miami International Airport, plus the Tamiami and Opa-Locka general aviation airports. Before he came to Miami, he was the area port director in Houston. He also served as the attach' for the Department of Homeland Security at the U.S. Embassy in Manila, Philippines, and has held a number of other federal posts during a career that has spanned 32 years.
