Working waterfront tours offered

Working waterfront tours offered The public can get a look at New York Harbor’s working waterfront this summer via tours sponsored by the Working Harbor Committee, a group that seeks to inform the public about the past and continuing importance of the port, and the South Street Seaport Museum.
   Three tours will depart from the South Street Seaport on May 19 using a Zephyr, a Circle Line boat.
   Destinations and starting times are:
   * The Brooklyn Waterfront from Cass Gilbert’s Brooklyn Navy Yards (where Elvis embarked for his World War II service) to Gowanus Bay and historic points en route, 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.
   * The tugboat yards of Staten Island along the Kill Van Kull, container ports, the USS Intrepid museum ship undergoing repairs in dry dock at Bayonne, 1 p.m.
   There will also be sunset tours offered June 20 and July 18.
