World Shipping Council selects Wood-Thomas as green VP The World Shipping Council, representing some 90 percent of the world’s container vessel capacity, has appointed Bryan Wood-Thomas as vice-president responsible for environmental affairs.
   Wood-Thomas was associate director of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Office of Transportation and Air Quality. Prior to 2006, he served as the marine program director in EPA’s Office of International Environmental Policy.
   “The liner shipping industry recognizes the importance of responsible environmental stewardship and the development and implementation of effective, practical, international rules addressing the environmental issues arising from shipping operations. It is backing up that recognition with the addition of an internationally respected expert in the field,” said Christopher Koch, president and chief executive officer of the council
