Wright named USDA deputy undersecretary for marketing, regulations
The U.S. Department of Agriculture announced the appointment of Ann Wright to deputy undersecretary for marketing and regulatory programs.
Wright most recently served as senior policy advisor to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid on issues before the Senate Agriculture Committee. Prior to this, she was a policy analyst for Consumers Union on energy and trade issues and worked with farmers and non-profit organizations at the Sustainable Agriculture Coalition in Washington.
Wright also previously served as a policy advisor on agriculture issues for Sen. Paul Simon of Illinois and Sen. Paul Wellstone of Minnesota.
The USDA's marketing and regulatory programs facilitate domestic and international marketing of U.S. agricultural products and ensure the health and care of animals and plants. The agency participates in setting national and international standards.
