WSC names Viccars Brussels rep

The World Shipping Council (WSC) said Wednesday it has hired Damian Viccars as its new Brussels representative.
Viccars joins WSC from the International Road Transport Union, where he worked for the last seven years on EU transport policy and with UN bodies involved in transportation policy.
“The World Shipping Council and the liner shipping industry have worked closely with the European Commission in its efforts to advance supply chain and cargo security policies,” said Chris Koch, World Shipping Council president and chief executive officer. “The addition of Damian Viccars to the WSC staff will further strengthen our capability to serve the industry well and to help the liner shipping industry fulfill its objective of developing thoughtful and effective policies for the future.”
“Supply chain security is very important to our member companies and as WSC’s Brussels representative, Damian will act as the industry’s primary liaison with the European Commission on supply chain and cargo security as well as European Customs issues,” added Lars Kjaer, WSC’s senior vice president in charge of European activities.
