WWL: China/Korea/Japan ro/ro trade resurges

WWL: China/Korea/Japan ro/ro trade resurges    Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics said this week it has increased from two to three the number of sailings on its China Express dedicated Japan/Korea/China roll-on/roll-off service.
   The decision was made due to a “resurgence in trade between the three countries in vehicles, rolling equipment and non-containerized cargo,” WWL said.
   Sailings are being offered from the Japanese ports of Kobe, Nagoya, Toyohashi, Gamagori, Hitachinaka and Yokohama to Pusan and Incheon in South Korea and Tianjin, Shanghai and Guangzhou in China.
   WWL, which started the service in 2004, operates it with three ro/ro vessels with carrying capacities of 4,500 cars. All three can also carry buses and trucks, or high and heavy loads, including construction and agricultural equipment, and breakbulk cargoes such as power generation equipment, rail cars and various project cargos.
   WWL said Yokohama will serve as its main transshipment hub for services from the United States and Oceania to the Far East Asian destinations and from Korea and China to various destinations worldwide.
