WWL sets up Chennai subsidiary
Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics has established a subsidiary in India, the company said Friday.
The subsidiary, Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics (India) Pvt Ltd, will be based in Chennai.
'WWL aims to establish a long term presence in India covering its five core products ' ocean transportation, terminal services, technical services, inland distribution and supply chain management,' the company said in a statement. 'WWL is looking at exploring opportunities in India in areas of automobile/Ro-Ro terminal development, terminal management, yard management, inland distribution of finished vehicles and the establishment of a dedicated ocean product.'
WWL operates 60 car carriers and moved 4.3 million vehicles last year.
Chennai, dubbed the Detroit of India, is a hub of car manufacturing activity.
