Wysong named to Commerce Department export enforcement post

The U.S. Commerce Department has appointed Wendy L. Wysong deputy assistant secretary of commerce for export enforcement.

Wysong will oversee the export enforcement arm of the department’s Bureau of Industry and Security. In addition, she becomes the acting assistant secretary, pending the nomination and confirmation of a new assistant secretary to fill the current vacancy in that position.

Prior to joining the Bureau of Industry and Security, Wysong served in the Justice Department for 16 years, most recently as an assistant U.S. attorney for the District of Columbia. She was responsible for the department’s Transnational/Major Crimes Section, which involved investigation, indictment and trial of export fraud cases.
