The new development will add seven berths, 2,600 meters of quay and 5 million TEUs of capacity to what most expect will become the biggest port in the world. The first three phases of the megaport have been built in north Yangshan, a deepwater island off the coast of Shanghai.
Now focus will shift to west Yangshan, where another 10 to 12 berths are planned to be added by 2013.
