The “customs office,” located within the free trade zone of the Mexico City Airport, opened as a result of the increasing need for detailed transportation management due to the automotive industry’s rapid growth and Mexico’s increase in imported freight. Previously, these operations were conducted through an outside agency.
Having these operations managed internally should facilitate the smooth implementation of various kinds of transportation control, including checking freight status within airport transit shed, ensuring efficient customs clearance and supervising the loading of trucks, Yusen said in a statement.
The “cross dock office” for air export opened outside of the airport.
By negotiating freight charges with airlines and issuing air waybills, tasks that were previously handled by another agency, Yusen said it will be able to provide competitive freight charge procurement and a high quality transportation operation.
The company plans to arrange a similar structure at airports in Guadaljara and Monterey.
In addition to the two new offices in Mexico City, Yusen Logistics (Mexico) also provides logistics services at its headquarters in Mexico City and branches in Monterey and Celaya.
