Yusen starts Southeast Asia cross-border trucking service

   Yusen Logistics said Wednesday it has started a cross-border trucking service connecting Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam.
   The service, called South East Asia Link (SEAL), provides full truckload and less-than-truckload solutions five times per week between Singapore and Malaysia, and twice per week between Malaysia and Thailand and Vietnam.
   SEAL is intended to tap into the market for goods that need to move faster than ocean transport but need an option that is less expensive than air. Yusen said the service was introduced as an alternative in response to increasingly varied logistics requirements of customers in the region.
   In the high-demand corridor between the Thai and Vietnamese capitals of Bangkok and Hanoi, Yusen said the price is approximately half that of air freight, while 10 days quicker than for ocean freight.
   A number of logistics companies and forwarders have introduced cross-border road services connecting Southeast Asia and China to tap into growing demand for differentiated transportation services.
