Zim box ships pass U.S. Coast Guard’s Qualship 21 test

The U.S. Coast Guard has awarded its Qualship 21 safety recognition status to 12 containerships operated by Israeli carrier Zim Integrated Shipping Services Ltd.

   To qualify for Qualship 21 (Quality Shipping for the 21st Century) certification, vessels must have no previous substandard detentions in the United States, no marine violations or serious marine casualties, and successful previous Port State Control (PSC) exams.

   The 12 vessels are: Zim Haifa, Zim Virginia, Zim Europa, Zim Korea, Zim Canada, Zim Pacific, Zim Iberia, Zim Jamaica, Zim Italia, Zim Asia, Zim China and Zim Barcelona.
