ZIM launches ECO data calculator

The new tool from the Israeli ocean carrier tracks carbon dioxide and sulfur oxide gas emissions on ZIM vessels using Clean Cargo Working Group data methods.    Israeli ocean carrier ZIM has launched a new ECO data calculator that provides their customers and business partners with information on carbon dioxide and sulfur oxide gas emissions from ZIM vessels, according to a statement from the company.
   Created as part of a greater effort to reduce vessel emissions, the calculator retrieves data from vessels via specific line, service or between two locations for any number of TEUs or cargo weight carried by a ZIM vessel. The calculations used to generate the data report are based on the Clean Cargo Working Group’s (CCWG) latest emission-factors methods, ZIM said.
   CCWG is an initiative between brands, cargo carriers and freight forwarders to reduce the environmental impacts of the global shipping industry. Larger global shipping companies involved in the CCWG initiative include ocean carriers MSC, Maersk Line, CMA CGM, Hapag-Lloyd and ZIM, and freight forwarders and logistic companies like DAMCO, DHL, Kuehne + Nagel Inc. and more.
