Zim postpones Asia/Europe rate hike

Container line Zim said Tuesday it has postponed a planned rate increase on the Asia/Europe trade from July 1 to Aug. 1.

The proposed increase affects westbound cargo from Asia and the Indian Subcontinent to West Mediterranean, Adriatic and northern Europe destinations.

Asia/Europe rates have been in freefall in recent months with lines finding it difficult to make rate increases, planned for the start of the traditional peak season, stick.

The increase is $275 per TEU.
