Zim shifting West Med hub
Israeli ocean carrier Zim has moved its west Mediterranean hub from Barcelona to the smaller Spanish port of Tarragona, according to a report from Israeli news outlet PORT2PORT.
Citing an advisory to the carrier’s customers, the report said Zim’s round-the-world ZCS service would begin calling at Tarragona this month. Zim owns a 40 percent stake in a 150,000-TEU container terminal in Tarragona (Dubai-based terminal operator DP World owns the other 60 percent stake).
The ZCS service uses 15 5,000-TEU vessels with a port rotation of Haifa, Livorno, Genoa, Tarragona, Halifax, New York, Savannah, Kingston, Panama Canal, Los Angeles, Oakland, Ningbo, Shekou, Hong Kong, Keelung, Balboa, Panama Canal, Kingston, Savannah, New York, Halifax, Barcelona and Haifa.
