AGT, which began operations in September 2005, is expected to have capacity of 3.5 million TEUs by 2010.
ZIM purchased the share previously held by APM Terminals, a subsidiary of A.P. Moller Maersk. Other partners in the terminal are DP World, with 42.5 percent; COSCO Pacific, 20 percent; CMA-CGM, 10 percent; and Duisport with 7.5 percent.
'The new investment will enable a significant enhancement of ZIM’s existing services, as well as the introduction of new lines, serving the trade between North Europe and destinations in the U.S., the Caribbean, Central America, West Africa, the Far East and the Mediterranean,' the company said in a statement.
