Zim to raise Asia/East Coast South America rates
Container line Zim said Thursday it will seek to raise rates on the Asia/East Coast South America trade as of Aug. 1, saying current rate levels were “unsustainable.”
The proposed rate increase is $600 per TEU.
Zim is part of a five-carrier consortium operating a service between the Far East and the East Coast of South America, providing three vessels on the ASE service, according to American Shipper affiliate ComPair Data. The loop is jointly operated by Hanjin Shipping, Wan Hai, Hapag-Lloyd and CCNI.
