Mitchell 1 expands repair information with new ABS, transmission updates to RepairConnect

Mitchell 1’s RepairConnect now includes transmission and ABS repair information.

As truck repair processes become ever more difficult, the task of identifying the correct problem quickly and finding the right repair process takes more time than ever. Mitchell 1 has been helping technicians speed up both processes since the 1940s, and this week at the North American Commercial Vehicle show in Atlanta the company has added another layer to that help with updates to its RepairConnect diagnostic software.

The company has added ABS and transmission diagnostic codes (DTCs) to its product, which is part of the broader TruckSeries of repair information solutions.

“This gives the technician the ability to access the most complex information in a vehicle in seconds,” Scott DeGiorgio, general manager, said. “This will take every element of the repair procedure and guide the technician through the process.”

The new updates add more comprehensive coverage of vehicles, DeGiorgio said, giving RepairConnect “bumper-to-bumper” coverage of medium-duty and heavy-duty vehicles.

RepairConnect provides specific repair processes to improve diagnosing and repair time. The tool gives the technician the correct information to make a repair within 30 seconds of a diagnostic tool being connected to the vehicle. A repair portal can also be accessed, allowing the user to input the vehicle information and trouble code before providing the repair information and wiring diagrams.

RepairConnect is fully integrated with all major scan tools and supports medium, heavy duty and school bus SAE protocols. RepairConnect eases the complexity inherent in commercial vehicle systems by delivering clear and specific information, including component location photos, color wiring diagrams, and testing steps and procedures to help technicians work more efficiently and accurately, the company explained.

“Every feature in RepairConnect has been developed with the goal of increasing technician productivity, helping ensure that repairs are completed correctly the first time, to ultimately reduce vehicle downtime,” DeGiorgio added. “The addition of ABS and transmission codes in RepairConnect gives truck repair shops immediate access to comprehensive service information and eliminates the ‘replace and pray’ scenario that can result in a comeback for the same problem.”

The TruckSeries of software products provide a one-stop, single log-in, all-makes data resource with scalable wiring diagrams, digital pictures, DTC-to-diagnostics, and mechanical labor time estimating. TruckSeries is integrated with Mitchell 1’s Manager SE Truck Edition, a truck shop management software that delivers an end-to-end solution for every step of the repair process.
