Executive Moves: CSX, Target and the European Sea Ports Organization

CSX names vice president-industrial products, while Target appoints former Walmart logistics executive to senior VP of network planning and operational design, and the European Sea Ports Organization elects its next chairman.    CSX has named Michael Rutherford vice president-industrial products, effective immediately. He will lead all sales and marketing activities for the recently-expanded industrial products portfolio, which includes housing and construction materials, forest products, metals, minerals, military equipment and machinery. Rutherford previously served as assistant vice president-industrial products, after serving as director of the Class I railway’s “Voice of the Customer” customer insights team and director of marketing. Before being named director of strategic planning in 2008, Rutherford served at Adidas and Johnson & Johnson.

   Target Corp. has appointed Shekar Natarajan to senior vice president of network planning and operational design. He will report to Target’s executive vice president and chief supply chain and logistics officer, Arthur Valdez. Natarajan will oversee the design of the retailer’s direct-to-store and direct-to-customer supply chain network. He brings more than 15 years of experience in supply chain innovation and global transformation to Target, and most recently served as vice president of last mile operations and emerging sciences at Walmart.

   The European Sea Ports Organization has elected Eamonn O’Reilly, chief executive officer of the Dublin Port Co., chairman. He succeeds Santiago Garcia-Mila who chaired the organization for the past four years. Annaleena Mäkilä, executive director of the Finish Ports Association, and Bernard Mazuel, managing director of the French Ports Association, were also elected as vice chairmen.
